Education History of London



Under the Elementary Education Act 1870, school board of London was the first school board which was established. This board provides school facilities to the children with less resources in order to give them quality education in London. Later this board was larger education provider in the city. Many of the new schools were build and others are renovated. Later in 1871, school attendance was made compulsory for the children of age 5 to 13. Many secondary schools were also established by this board which includes Science and Art departments.
Technical Education board was made by London county council in 1893, in order to promote secondary Education in London. Many scholarships were given to the students of Elementary school in order to get education in technical and secondary schools. Later in 1897, Technical Education board was totally responsible to make avability of Science and Arts Department in technical and secondary schools. In 1901 the rule was passed that board can only provide funds to schools which are under its elementary rimit.
In 1994 London county council took the whole responsibility to provide education to the students in city. Many reforms were taken by London county council in order to provide best health facilities to the students. They also provide food to the students in the schools and to improve the standard of education. They started hiring best teachers and invest money in order to train their teachers. They also build a library in order to facilitate the students. Because of World War 1 London County Council stopped giving scholarship to the students due to lack of funds. Later in 1994, system of standard education was changed in England by Education Act which make compulsory for the teens of 14 years and above to get secondary education.
